KPK hauls 7 suitcases of evidence after searching Jakarta Legislative Council

Jakarta, IO – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) on Tuesday (17/1).

The searches were conducted on floor 3, 4, 8 and 10. The 10th floor is the office of Jakarta DPRD chairman Prasetyo Edi Marsudi while the 4th floor is the offices of Golkar and PSI factions, the 8th floor the offices of PDIP faction and the 3rd floor the office of Commission C, reported Katadata, Wednesday (18/1).

A total of seven suitcases of documents and other items were seized by KPK investigators after conducting searches from late afternoon to the evening at around 8.55pm WIB.

“I can confirm that there has been a search conducted in connection with alleged corruption in a land acquisition in Pulogebang,” said KPK spokesperson Ali Fikri.

During the search process, access to the building was strictly guarded by internal security guards. The media crew was also prohibited from covering the event. Ali Fikri promised to immediately provide an official statement regarding the search.

In response, Jakarta DPRD chairman Prasetyo Edi Marsudi expressed his support for KPK investigation. However, he admitted that he did not know exactly what the purpose of the investigation is. According to him, he has strived to implement mechanism to promote transparency at the council, including on budgetary matters. (un)
