KPK arrests 23, including Pemalang regent, in graft busting operations

Jakarta, IO – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) caught Pemalang Regent Mukti Agung Wibowo red-handed for allegedly accepting bribe.

“On Thursday, August 11, KPK arrested a regent and several people suspected of having committed a corruption in the form of bribery,” said KPK chairman Firli Bahuri as reported by Detik, Friday (12/8).

KPK deputy chair Nurul Ghufron said Mukti was arrested along with 22 other people in several locations in Jakarta and Pemalang.

In Jakarta, the arrests were made in an area around the parliament complex in Senayan. Asked for confirmation, House secretary general Indra Iskandar acknowledged that there was an incident around the back gate of the parliament building at around 4pm WIB on Thursday (11/8), but he couldn’t say for sure if it was KPK operation, but confirmed that someone had been arrested.

“I don’t know the exact details, but this afternoon at around 4pm WIB there was an incident where a car outside the rear gate of the House building was immobilized by another car,” Indra told Detik.
