IO, Jakarta – The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) invites business people and the SPA industry to take part in free online training to upskill and reskill tourism & creative economy Human Resources (HR) capabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy HR Development Director Wisnu Bawa Tarunajaya, in a statement on Monday (4/27/2020) explained that Indonesia has tremendous potential in terms of culture, one aspect of which is a spa that has a history and high philosophy as health care in the past. So it has the potential of becoming a competitive tourist attraction of global appeal. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has recently impacted all sectors, including the spa industry.

“This online training program is expected to increase the potential of the tourism community and the creative economy, so they will be more competitive and ready to rise together when the pandemic is declared over,” said Wisnu Bawa Tarunajaya.

Spas and tourism are known to have a strong relationship and each needs the other. Tourists need relaxation after traveling, and spas need tourists to continue to grow.

The spa itself is included in the designated 13 fields of the tourism industry. Business standards follow the Regulation of the Minister of Kemenparekraf Number 24 of 2014, in which spa products have 8 spa management standards.

He also explained that the training itself will be carried out on May 20, 2020, for the SPA industry in Indonesia, with a variety of programs to be delivered such as the Relaxation Spa Reflexology, Primary Therapist Spa, and Intermediate Therapist Spa. Each class is limited to 20 participants with 8 days of training for reflexology, 9 days for pratama therapist spas, and 12 days for intermediate spa therapists.

“Registration will open on April 28. There is no face-to-face training, all training is done online. It is specifically for those who have been laid off at their place of work,” he said.
