Jakarta, IO – Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono said the government would evaluate the dengue fever management program to reduce morbidity and mortality rate caused by the mosquito-borne tropical disease.

According to the Health Ministry (Kemenkes) data, 488 people succumbed to dengue fever in the first half of this year. The figure is part of a total of 52,313 cases in 451 regencies/municipalities in 34 provinces, CNN Indonesia reported.

“We have a cross-institutional programs called pokjanal [operational working group]. We will evaluate the programs and then see how effectively they can be implemented,” Dante said on Wednesday (6/7).

Dante said cases of dengue fever are always on the rise every year. Moreover, the disease is endemic to tropical and subtropical regions.
