IO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has begun to form his first cabinet for his second term of office, 2019-2024. He has disclosed that he has a clear picture of who he wants. “Already (names have been saved),” Jokowi admitted, when queried by reporters at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (07/12/2019).
“The criteria for those aspiring to be nominated as a minister have also been discussed,” he said.
He said that the estimated composition of his cabinet would attempt a balance between professionals and members of political parties. “Yes, approximately about 60:40 or 50:50.” he said.
Jokowi will include young figures in his second term cabinet. He even asked the political parties of the Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin coalition to give names of prospective ministers from among young people. “I also ask from the party to propose young people and also some professionals,” he said.
Jokowi plans to immediately announce the names of his ministers, but he has not confirmed when the announcement will be made. “As soon as possible,” Jokowi said. (dsy)
