Jakarta, IO – President Joko Widodo ordered relevant ministries and agencies to tighten supervisions at Indonesia’s borders. This directive is meant to prevent further spread of monkeypox in the country.

He also instructed Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin to immediately administer monkeypox vaccine and called on the public not to panic because monkeypox transmission only occurs when the patient already shows symptoms and through close physical contact.

“We don’t need to panic too much because the transmission is through direct contact, not droplets. I think the most important thing is our readiness to deal with it,” Jokowi said.
