Jokowi makes list of 50 World’s Most Influential Muslim Figures

Jakarta, IO – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo was recently named one of the top 50 influential Muslim figures in the world by The Muslim 500. Besides Jokowi, the list also includes two other prominent Indonesian Muslim clerics, namely Habib Muhammad Luthfi bin Yahya and NU chairman Said Aqil Siradj.

Jokowi was ranked 13th, Muhammad Luthfi 32nd and Said Aqil Siradj 19th, Tempo reported on Monday (25/7).

Other prominent Muslim figures from around the world include Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani (1st), Saudi Arabia King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz (2nd), Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei (3rd) and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan (4th).

Meanwhile, those who did not make the top 50 and received honorable mentions are Senegalese footballer Sadio Mane, human rights activist Malala Yousafzai, Russian wrestler Khabib Nurmagomedov and Muhammadiyah figure Din Syamsudin.
