He also instructed Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin to support the development of the biopharmaceutical industry in order to realize Indonesia’s self-reliance in the pharmaceutical sector.

In September last year, the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) permit for AWcorna vaccine. The Covid-19 vaccine was registered by PT Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia and was developed through technology transfer and research cooperation with Abogen-Yuxi Walvax, China.

The vaccines has been certified halal by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and Halal Certification Agency (BPJPH). (rr)
