Jakarta, IO – President Joko Widodo said Indonesia’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic is one of the best in the world, a statement that is also backed by the World Health Organization (WHO).

“Compared to the global average, we are among the countries that have successfully handled Covid-19,” said Jokowi, reported Okezone, Tuesday (21/3).

Jokowi revealed that WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom in June 2022 said Indonesia has been able to handle the Covid-19 pandemic successfully. This is also supported by Johns Hopkins University.

“Then in September 2021 Johns Hopkins University also said that Indonesia is one of the best in the world in reducing Covid cases. It is not us who said it,” Jokowi continued.

Jokowi said a number of measures to suppress the infection and death rate from Covid-19 are used as the benchmark for this recognition by global institutions. In addition, he believes the success of the curbs has contributed to the stability of the country’s economy.

“W managed to maintain stability and economic growth. It is proven that last year our economy grew 5.31 percent,” said Jokowi. (un)
