Iranian President meets with MPR Speaker to explore nuclear technology cooperation

Jakarta, IO – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi met with People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Bambang Soesatyo at the Parliament Nusantara V Building, Jakarta, Tuesday (23/5).

Raisi, who arrived at around 5pm WIB, was greeted by Bambang at the main lobby door. They then walked on the red carpet while having a friendly conversation.

The meeting proceeded to the Delegation Room on the second floor. At the meeting, Bamsoet said Raisi invited Indonesia to expand and strengthen cooperation in various fields such as transportation, agriculture, health, to nuclear energy.

Bambang said Indonesia understands Iran’s position in the geopolitical landscape where the country is often pressured by the West. Nevertheless, the pressure has led to Iran experiencing progress, especially technological advancements.

“Pressure from the West on Iran has led to Iran’s progress in technology and other fields,” he said. Bambang also said that the potential for expansion of cooperation and business with Iran is enormous.

“I told him that Indonesia is very open. These meetings were very productive and resulted in discussions that have the potential for even closer cooperation in the future,” he said.

Before visiting MPR, President Raisi met with the President Joko Widodo and House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani. (bp)
