The Cooperatives and SME Ministry noted that currently there are 64.2 million micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that account for 61.07 percent of national gross domestic product (GDP) and provide employment for 97 percent of the country’s total workforce. Not surprisingly, SMEs in Indonesia is also referred to as an important driver of the country’s development.
eBay Country Manager for Southeast Asia and India, Vidmay Naini, said the company will continue to encourage exports by SMEs in Southeast Asia, especially in Indonesia because in terms of value, export activities supported by online marketing are larger than traditional ones.

“eBay’s primary focus in Southeast Asia is enabling SMEs to sell globally where our marketplace boasts 142 million active buyers in more than 3,000-plus product categories with market access to 190 countries. SMEs in the region have a lot of inventory that global consumers want, and they need to differentiate and drive scale by exploring e-commerce export options,” he said. (un)
