The only women’s singles player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung was stopped by fourth-seeded Indian player Pusarla V. Sindhu. Men’s singles event also saw Anthony Sinisuka Ginting won over Thai shuttler Sitthikom Thammasin, after another Indonesian player Chico Aura Dwi was defeated by Singaporean Loh Kean Yew.

The women’s doubles also secured two quarter-final spots thanks to the victories of Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti and Febby Valencia Dwijayanti/Ribka Sugiarto. In the mixed doubles event, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari were the only Indonesian representatives in the quarter-final after they triumphed over fellow countrymen, Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti.
