Jakarta, IO – Novita Kurnia Putri, an Indonesian citizen (WNI) from Semarang, Central Java, became the victim of stray bullet in San Antonio, Texas, US.
Mohamad Kamal, socio-cultural affairs coordinator of the Indonesian Consulate General in Houston, said Novita was shot during a carjacking, reported Detik on Monday (10/10).
“Upon receiving the report, Indonesian Consulate General in Houston went to the scene and met the husband, a US citizen. The incident occurred on October 4 in San Antonio, Texas. We have also met with the police to obtain information on the incident. According to the police the perpetrator used an automatic weapon,” Kamal said.
According to local police report, the perpetrators, aged 14 and 15, were charged with murder and serious assault punishable by death or life imprisonment. “According to police, the perpetrators were arrested shortly after the incident after being chased by car and helicopter,” explained Kamal.
