Jakarta, IO – Group of Indonesian citizens in Japan were seen in a viral video behaving in a disorderly conduct by forming gangs, disrupting the peace. This unruly behavior has even become a topic of discussion on social media. From several videos and photos circulating, several people are seen sitting in circle on a pavement.
Acting head of protocol at the Indonesian consulate general in Osaka, R.A. Fathonah, confirmed the authenticity of the video, saying it was likely taken during the Obon Matsuri festival, a Japanese tradition of praying for ancestral spirits in the Dotonbori area not too long ago.
Osaka residents and other Indonesian citizens have filed a complaint to the Japanese police, as per Kompas, Mon (2/9).
Fathonah appealed to all Indonesian citizens in Japan to respect the local values, norms, customs, and regulations, as well as maintain Indonesia’s reputation abroad.
