Jakarta, IO – Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said Indonesia ranks among top 20 countries with the best port performance, according to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Indonesia is the only Southeast Asian nation to win this accolade, reported Inews on Thursday (29/12).
Indonesia is in the ninth place, under Canada, Australia, Russia, the U.S., Germany, Greece, France and Italy. Luhut said one of the reasons behind the achievement is the improved condition of ports in the country, in addition to the hard work of relevant ministries/agencies and port stakeholders, leading to a reduced dwelling time at the port.
“Why did this happen? Because we all work together, we are united. We digitize everything. I still remember six years ago we still had one-week dwelling time, now reduced to between 2-2.5 working days,” he said.
