Omar Salha, founder of Open Iftar, said Indonesian cuisine is indeed the most sought during this year’s Ramadan. He said that there were many requests from the public to serve Indonesian cuisine.

“Alhamdulillah, guests are very enthusiastic and appreciative of Indonesian specialties. We would like to thank the Indonesian communities in London,” said Omar.

The event, organized by the London Muslim Community, was also attended by Desra Percaya, the Indonesian Ambassador to the UK and Ireland, and his staff as well as Indonesian and other foreign nationals who live in London. The event was not only attended by the Muslim community, but also non-Muslims who expressed their appreciation and explained that they wanted to know more about Islam.

The Open Iftar organizing committee which includes Ramadan Tent Project Team and Human Aid Initiative, has been actively organizing the event in the past nine years. Initially organized by international students in London, it grew and spread to various cities. The number of residents who participated have also grown to tens of thousands of people. (un)
