Jakarta, IO – The Siam International Math and Science Olympiad (SIMSO) is organized by the International Champions in Education (ICE) in Bangkok, Thailand on August 9-12. Indonesia sent 39 students (elementary, middle and high school) from 15 schools to participate.
In the math competition, Indonesia managed to win 5 gold medals, 12 silver and 4 bronze, whereas in the science competition the students brought home 6 gold medals, 9 silver, 7 bronze and 1 Achiever, according to the Foreign Ministry (Kemlu), as per Kemlu.go.id, Tue (13/8).
Indonesian ambassador to Thailand, Rahmat Budiman, conveyed his congratulations to the students for their extraordinary achievements. He hoped that international competition like this can improve the Indonesian students’ prowess in key subjects, especially science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Besides Indonesia, SIMSO 2024 was attended by students from Thailand, the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, Myanmar, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Macau, and the US. (bp)
