Indonesia and China sign 5 cooperation agreements at G20 Summit

Jakarta, IO – President Joko Widodo held a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Apurva Kempinski Hotel, Badung Regency, Bali, Wednesday (16/11). The two leaders witnessed the signing of five cooperation agreements in a number of fields.

According to the Cabinet Secretariat press release on Thursday (17/11), the agreements are: (1) Action plan for joint promotion cooperation under the Global Maritime Axis and the Belt and Road Initiative frameworks; (2) MoU on the joint development of a center for conservation, research and innovation of Indonesian-Chinese medicinal plants; (3) MoU on industrial vocational training; (4) MoU on increasing digital economic cooperation; and (5) Agreement on further expansion and deepening of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

President Jokowi and President Xi Jinping also witnessed the trial run of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway. In his remarks, President Jokowi expressed his hope that it can start operation in June next year.
