Immigration Slaps Administrative Sanctions on 2,041 Foreign Nationals in Past 6 Months


Jakarta, IO – The Immigration Directorate General has imposed administrative sanctions on 2,041 foreign nationals during the first half of 2024. According to Immigration Director General Silmy Karim, this is a whopping increase of 75.19 percent from the 1,165 number of sanctions issued in the same period last year. “Of these cases, 1,503 or 73.64 percent are deportations,” he said, per Antara, Wednesday (10/7).

The number of those deported in the first half of 2024 represented a 135.21 percent increase from just 639 in the same period last year. Administrative sanctions include blacklisting, restriction, reduction, or revoking of stay permit, prohibition to enter one or several areas within Indonesian territory, obligation to reside in only a specific area within Indonesian territory, fines, and/or deportation.
