dr. Danar also suggests that hijabers maintain the cleanliness of their hair better and not delay washing up after strenuous activity. “When you’re done exercising or other strenuous physical activity, take a shower and wash your hair at once. The longer you delay, the more time you allow for bacteria to proliferate on your skin and scalp. For those who do not perform heavily physical activities, you still need to wash up your hair and body at least once a day. Do it when all your activities for the day are done, so that you are clean and ready for bed,” he said.

Gray Hair and Hair Coloring

Any advice for people whose hair is already gray even though they’re still young?

“Gray hair is caused by a natural aging process. It can be slowed by adopting a basically healthy lifestyle, but early graying can also have genetic causes. Consume foods rich in antioxidants, exercise routinely, have regular and sufficient sleep, manage your stress, and stop smoking and alcohol consumption,” dr. Danar said. “Another thing: hair coloring. In order to change your hair color, you need to bleach out the original color of your hair, especially if you have dark hair, and this damages the strands severely. Many studies have proven that hair coloring also has a large potential of causing other health problems. This is especially apparent in cross reactions caused by allergies hypersensitivity to the chemicals in the hair dye. It’s best that you don’t color your hair frequently, and leave it in its natural glory. At least, most of the time.” (est)
