Dasco said the House will coordinate with the technical commission as well as the Health Ministry and related agencies to conduct a study on medical marijuana.
“We will try to study whether it is possible for marijuana to be used for medical purpose,” Dasco told Kompas on Monday (27/6). While a number of countries have legalized medical marijuana, the prevailing laws, especially Law 35/2009 on Narcotics, in Indonesia have yet to allow this. Marijuana is still classified as Class I narcotics.
“Pending the results of the study that will be carried out later, it is possible that medical marijuana can be regulated in the revision to the Narcotics Law which is being deliberated by the House,” he explained. (rr)
