Jakarta, IO – A fatal accident occurred on Sultan Agung St., West Bekasi, Wednesday (31/8). An articulated truck mowed down a number of primary students of SDN Kota Baru 2 who were walking in front of the school. The heavy-duty truck also hit a motorbike, car, electricity pole and also a bus stop, reported Pojoksatu.
Bekasi City Police spokesperson AKBP Agung Pitoyo said 10 people have died and 20 injured. Police are still investigating the scene and the cause has yet to be established. “The victims have been evacuated to Bekasi Hospital and Ananda Hospital,” Agung explained.
Handika P. Pratama, an ambulance driver who transported the victims, revealed that he brought 8 bodies consisting of four elementary school students and four adults. “Everyone has been evacuated to Bekasi City Hospital,” said Handika.

Handika also said that the family of the deceased had not visited the hospital. “We are still waiting for the police, because the identification is not yet done. So the bodies are still in the car,” he explained. Until the time of publication there has yet been any official statement from the police regarding this incident. (rr)
