Based on this concept change, JogjaROCKarta Festival changed the event venue from the Gading Wonosari Airport to Tebing Breksi Yogyakarta. The new venue was selected because of its exotic, different landscapes. It’s even more suitable for a rock music festival in that it’s a rocky cliff. “JRF is not fixated on a single venue. We found Tebing Breksi through our exploration. The first criterion is sufficient distance to allow for a jeep ride. This venue with its ancient mountainous background is significant. It has excellent lighting as well. And most importantly, it lends itself easily to our updated budget. We will be uploading the venue’s maps, access guideline to the venue, and the jeeps’ meeting point in our social media,” Anas said.
Rajawali Indonesia decides that JogjaROCKarta Festival 2022 will have an additional 30 bands lining up on the side stage. This is meant to bring the music festival closer to its audience, especially in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and surrounding areas, while allowing space for Indonesian rock bands to regenerate. “All these years we’ve been organizing the JRF, we got positive responses from rock bands across the Nusantara. We consider it important to regenerate Indonesian rock. Therefore, we provide the side stage to allow new bands to gain experience and exposure,” said Ahmad Sobirin, JogjaROCKarta Festival 2022’s Project Manager.
Bakkar added that the side stage is also Rajawali’s effort to mitigate the recent rumor that our rock musicians are discriminated against, that they are prevented from performing on certain stages. “So we at JogjaROCKarta are providing space for them to perform – according to the strict selection mechanism determined by the entire team,” he said.
