Jakarta, IO – Herbalife, a leading health and lifestyle company, attended the 2nd International Symposium and Workshop on Physical Fitness and Sports Nutrition (ISPEN) 2024. The event took place at Esa Unggul University, Jakarta, 7-9 August 2024, and was attended by more than 300 academics, researchers, practitioners, sports coaches, athletes, students, ministry officials, and the general public.
At ISPEN 2024, Herbalife presented a talk show session with the Nutrition Advisory Board (NAB) Herbalife Indonesia, Prof. Rimbawan who presented on “Protein and Muscle”, with the Chairman of the Indonesian Association of Fitness and Sports Nutritionists (ANOKI), Dr. Mury Kuswari presenting on “Nutrition Periodization”.
Nutrition Advisory Board (NAB) Herbalife Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Rimbawan in the talk show session said that protein plays an important role in muscle growth, repair, and maintenance. This needs to be balanced by consuming healthy foods to maintain a balanced intake of nutrients during and after training to optimize muscle protein synthesis.
“Currently, research is still being conducted to determine the optimal amount and type of protein (such as: insects, algae, fermented soybeans, etc.), as well as the long-term effects of protein. This seminar is also expected to emphasize education and education to the public about the benefits of protein and ensure access to quality protein sources,” explained Prof. Rimbawan, giving a sense of hope and optimism about the future of protein research and its potential benefits.
Meanwhile, The Chairman of the Indonesian Association of Fitness and Sports Nutritionists (ANOKI), Dr. Mury Kuswari said that athletes need to plan during the competition, long-term programs can be managed in smaller segments so that the peak achievement of the main match is one of them with nutritional periodization. “The importance of nutritional assistance during the match phase by maintaining a diet during the competition that focuses on the number of macronutrients rather than the quality of their food choices and is influenced by various factors other than body performance,” said Mury.
Herbalife National Triathlon Athlete, Inge Prasetyo, shared her experience on the role of nutrition during competition in the Indonesian Elite Athlete session of ISPEN. On the same occasion, Herbalife also introduced a book entitled “Sports Nutrition: Uncommon Knowledge in Shape, Physical Fitness, and Longevity”, written by Professor Chia-Hua Kuo from the Taiwan Society for Sports Nutrition (TSSN) and edited by Dr. Andrew Nicholls, Dr. Luthfia Dewi, and Dr. Mury Kuswari, in collaboration with Herbalife at ISPEN 2024.

The seminar carried the theme “Emerging Trends in Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Exercise,” a collaboration between the Nutrition Study Program and Dietitian Profession of Esa Unggul University and the Indonesian Association of Fitness and Sports Nutritionists (ANOKI), which is affiliated with the Asian Nutrition Society for Sports and Health (ANSSH). For three days, ISPEN 2024 be filled with several workshop and symposium sessions with topics such as Sports Nutrition, Training for Peak Performance, Nutrition and Health, Physical Activity and Exercise, Food Development and Supplement, and Athlete Performance.
