Jakarta, IO – Health Ministry’s Covid-19 Vaccination spokesperson Siti Nadia Tarmizi said nationwide the Delta cases are on decline. But the country is seeing spike fuelled by the Omicron BA.2 subvariant dubbed “Son of Omicron.”
“We see that nationally the Omicron variant dominates, especially the increase in the proportion of the BA.2 subvariant,” said Nadia via video link on Tuesday (12/4).

Therefore, she hopes that the target for genome sequence test can continue to be increased, although positive cases continue to decline. “By maintaining the number of genome sequenced specimens, we can detect the prevalence of subvariants or new variants,” she said.
