The WHO final vaccination target is 100% of priority groups, including health workers, with 97% of the total elderly population being fully vaccinated. This target is meant to optimize protection for these groups. In Indonesia, 118% of the health worker first booster vaccination target is achieved, while 36.5% of the total second booster target for the same group is vaccinated. However, only 30.5% of the total target booster vaccination among the elderly is achieved. In fact, only 68.8% of the targeted elderlies has obtained the first and second ordinary vaccination doses.

dr. Syahril emphasizes the necessity of accelerating booster vaccination efforts, because it multiplies antibody level in the body 4-6 times. This greatly protects us from Covid-19 infection, as well as from other infections. ”Even though WHO says that the signs that the pandemic is reaching its end soon are clearer, we need to remember that we are still in the midst of the pandemic. If we are not disciplined in our implementation of health protocols and remain lax about vaccination, we will lose the golden opportunity to end this pandemic quickly,” he said.

For Goodness Sake, Keep The Mask On!

Meanwhile, in the “Importance of Booster Vaccination in Protecting the People from the Serious Consequences of Covid-19, including Hospitalization and Death” media meet on Thursday (16/09/2022), Dr. dr. Erlina Burhan, Sp.P(K), M.Sc., Ph.D., declared that booster vaccinations are effective in protecting the elderly, and the general population, from severe illnesses and death. However, there is a cause for concern that its coverage is very low.
