A set of eight pieces of exquisitely “Deep-fried Salmon Roll” cost Rp 49,000, washed down with a very large Rp 12,000 iced tea.

Aburi-mix “Sushi on the Staircase” is a charming presentation of the classic Japanese raw fish dish.

Satoru, like most eateries these days of the wearisome endemic, offers dine-in, takeaway and delivery service. Give all the various dishes a try. Salmon canapés and other small snacks will fulfill without filling.

While Satoru is nicely air-conditioned, they also have an outside section, so you can eat and smoke and enjoy the smoke from passing traffic. No extra charge for the noise.

What must be mentioned is that while this fits the category of “fast food”, these offerings are extremely healthy as well as being tasty. While Satoru also offers beef and chicken varieties of their fusion-sushi, my strong recommendation is to stickwith-the-fish.

Fish is far safer than meat to eat, particularly the “mystery meat” that lurks in hamburgers, pizzas and other contemporary junk food. When I finish a pizza, it lays so heavy inside me that I feel like I’m about to have a baby, and that is unlikely because I am a 100% male he-man. My passport says so.

Japanese food is light and smooth. Vegetarians can also order wakame sushi.

Satoru is nestled in a row of businesses at Jl. Raya Condet, No. 1D, Balekambang. It is near the western end of the main Condet road, not far from the three-way intersection at Jl. Simatupang. It is close to the threeway intersection with Jl. Kayumanis (I love the idea of “Cinnamon Street”, even though there’s a cemetery above my house).

If you are coming from the eastern end of the very long Raya Condet (starts at PGC), it will be a little hard to find. But it is worth the effort. Yummy, mummy.
