Jakarta, IO – In the run up to Working Women Conference (KPP) in mid-March, a number of organizations and trade unions are urging the government to provide decent jobs, Thursday (9/3). They criticized the injustice that occurred to workers from vulnerable groups such as women and persons with disabilities.

Julia Nur Rachma, from the Media and Creative Industries Workers’ Union for Democracy (Sindikasi) highlighted the relationship between workers as employers’ partners which, according to her, remains unequal.

“For example, freelancers or contract workers where this relationship is not seen as workers. So, it is as if we are equal, but in essence, we are still under the auspices of capitalism itself,” said Julia.

This unequal relationship will ultimately only harm workers. According to Julia, the rights that should have been enjoyed were lost due to the unstable worker-employer status.
