A similar statement was made by the ministry’s Immigration Stay Permit Director Pramella Yunidar Pasaribu. She said her agency’s role is to provide visa services and residence permits at the discretion of ex-Indonesian citizens (WNI) who want to return to live in the country. “The aim is for them to play a role in facilitating national economic development,” said Pramella.

The mechanism for obtaining a second home visa is to apply for immigration document services at the stay permit service as contained in Law 6/2011 and Government Regulation 31/2013.

Ex-WNI, continued Pramella, have the freedom to work and do business according to the laws and regulations as holders of permanent stay permit (ITAP). They can also stay in Indonesia longer and can own property according to the prevailing laws and regulations. “This is the strategic role of immigration as a facilitator of national economic development,” she said.
