This is confirmed by Henry Subiakto, expert staff to Communications and Information Minister. By switching to digital TV, people will have more quality programs. Henry said the step is also part of the government’s digital transformation drive.

Furthermore, Henry said the migration policy will also free up the 700 Mhz bandwidth which can then be used for the expansion of internet services.

So far, the frequency has been used almost exclusively by analog TV broadcasters despite it being critical to the development of broadband internet services including 5G technology.
