Gov’t bans exports of CPO and cooking oil

Jakarta, IO – The government officially banned the export of cooking oil and crude palm oil (CPO), the raw materials for cooking oil manufacturing, effective from April 28.

The policy was announced by President Joko Widodo after chairing a cabinet meeting to discuss the supply of basic necessities, especially on ensuring the availability of cooking oil in domestic market.

“At the meeting, I decided that the government would prohibit the exports of cooking oil and cooking oil raw materials effective from Thursday, April 28, 2022 until otherwise determined,” said Jokowi, as broadcast by Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Saturday (23/4).
