Govt announced extended Eid leave days

Jakarta, IO – The government has decided that extended leave for this year’s Eid al-Fitr holiday will be from April 19-25, according to a joint ministerial decree from Religious Affairs Minister, Manpower Minister, and Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister.

The government added one to give people the opportunity to take leave earlier so as to avoid congestion at the peak of homecoming exodus, which is expected to be on April 21.

“It is estimated that based on the results of a survey conducted by the Transport Ministry conducted every year before Idul Fitri, this year there will be about 123 million people making the trips back to their hometowns. This is a very drastic increase compared to 85 million last year,” said Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Muhadjir Effendy.

He asked relavant authorities to make sure that the implementation of the 2023 Eid homecoming can run smoothly. (rr)
