Jakarta, IO – The public forest park (tahura) sits on an area the size of 6,208 ha in the Asparaga District. The proposal to name the park after Indonesia’s third president was conveyed personally by Gorontalo Regent Nelson Pomalingo.

“We have asked permission from BJ Habibie’s family,” said Nelson, reported Antara, Wednesday (9/11).

Nelson said the largest tahura in Indonesia deserves to be named after BJ Habibie because he was the instrumental figure behind the realization of the Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park.

“We remember him as one of the figures who really care about environmental conservation in Indonesia, especially Gorontalo,” he said.
