IO, Jakarta – Chairman of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto, together with several political elites of his party, visited the residence of senior Golkar figure Jusuf Kalla (JK) in Jakarta, Friday (10/26/2019). Besides the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Minister of Youth and Sports Zainuddin Amali and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Aziz Syamsudin were also present. The chairman of Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto is the Coordinating Minister for the Economy. On this occasion, the Golkar Party Central Board (DPP) proffered a special invitation to Jusuf Kalla to be present at the 55th Golkar Anniversary to be held early this November.

Golkar will bestow its Award of the Highest Distinction to former Golkar chairman Jusuf Kalla. Airlangga said that the award was given because Jusuf Kalla had delivered enormous service to the nation. “As a party cadre, with his position as Vice President in two different leadership periods, he succeeded in making an extraordinary contribution to the Indonesian Nation,” he explained.

Airlangga hopes that the active role of Golkar Party cadres in supporting the progress of the nation also includes preparation to face the 2020 Regional elections. “With the cooperation of all party components, we can realize this noble determination,” he added.

There is a big challenge given by President Joko Widodo to the Golkar Party to succeed in the development of advancing Indonesia. “Golkar will oversee the Jokowi-Maruf Amin government in its quest to achieve economic progress,” said Airlangga.

Airlangga said the reason for President Jokowi to pair up the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati with himself as Coordinating Minister for the Economy was that it would be the forefront of an Indonesian economic team. “This duet (Sri Mulyani and Airlangga) already understand each other. Already know each other what needs to be done when facing the pressures of uncertain global economic challenges, which are difficult to predict, so mutual understanding is very important for our cabinet,” said Jokowi in the Presidential Palace complex.
