IO, Jakarta – The General Chairman of the Democrat Party, Susilo Bam- bang Yudhoyono (“SBY”), has nally permitted the Party’s Branch Lead- ership Council (Dewan Pimpinan Cabang – “DPC”) in Solo to sup- port Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a Mayoral Candidate in the 2020 Re- gional Elections. He soon thereafter expressed his gratitude to SBY by means of a verbal message to be for- warded by the Chairman of Democrat Party’s Regional Leadership Council (Dewan Pimpinan Daerah – “DPD”) of Central Java, Rinto Subekti. “I thank you very much for your sup- port, Sir,” Gibran said on Tuesday (04/02/2020).
Despite already having consid- erable support, Gibran has chosen to wait for a recommendation from the Central Leadership Council (Dewan Pimpinan Pusat – “DPP”) of his father’s party, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan – “PDIP”). As everyone knows, Gibran is currently awaiting the announce- ment of the names PDIP General Chairwoman Megawati is recom- mending for the 2020 Regional Elections in Solo. “Let’s be patient, just wait for recommendations rst. I welcome all support – whether from any party, all volunteer co- horts, ordinary citizens, or anyone,” he said.
Gibran stated that he saved a soft copy of Megawati Soekarnoputri’s speeches during the Party’s Nation- al Work Meeting and when she was on a visit to Japan. He will use them as reference for his move in the 2020 Regional Elections. “There is much to learn from Ms. Mega’s speeches. Things like the values of Pancasi- la and cooperation; I saved many of them for reference,” he said.
Gibran admitted that he has be- come increasingly optimistic, as he awaits the announcement of PDIP support. Meanwhile he continues with his routines, among others mak- ing impromptu inspections. He fur- ther stated that he is committed to respecting whatever his party decides about recommendations, and that he would help selected Candidate Pairs any way he can: “So I am committed to help out the Party no matter who they choose. If they don’t choose me this time, I will still help out whoever is put forward,” he declared.
The Chairman of the Solo Dem- ocrat Party DPC, Supriyanto, stated that DPC Solo has agreed to support Gibran. “Our support to Brother Gi- bran is unanimous and with the per- mission of the DPD. We have made the decision three months ago, and we have socialized it with all our man- agement and instructed them to act accordingly, which they do,” he said. “Any management member and cadre who fails to comply with the DPP de- cision risks losing their place in the Party, no matter what the level. We the DPC con rm this compliance.” (Dan)
