- Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)
BEVs use electricity completely as a source of propulsion. They don’t have a combustion system or traction motor. The propulsion power is stored in a battery which can be recharged by connecting it to an external power line. Electric cars with BEV technology have the advantage of being able to store power when braking or slowing down by using electrical components that function as generators to generate power and store electricity in the battery. Compared to electric cars with HEV or PHEV technology, BEVs are claimed to be more efficient and economical. Some renowned brands in this category are Hyundai Ioniq, Nissan Leaf and Wuling Air EV.
