Getting to know the 2022 Qatar World Cup mascot La’eeb

Jakarta, IO – The FIFA World Cup 2022 was officially opened on Sunday (20/11) evening, featuring an opening match between the hosts Qatar versus Ecuador which took place at the Al Bayt Stadium. Ecuador cruised to victory with a score of 2-0.

Symbolizing the 2022 Qatar World Cup is its unique mascot and logo. The mascot is named La’eeb. According to FIFA, La’eeb comes from Arabic word which means a “very skilled player.”

La’eeb has no true form in the real world. Everyone is welcome to interpret it according to their imagination. La’eeb encourages everyone to believe in themselves.

Moreover, this mascot is expected to bring the joy of football to everyone. However, shape-wise, La’eeb resembles a kufiya (ghutrah), a traditional headdress usually worn by Middle Eastern men.
