Jakarta, IO – Exactly one year from now, the 2024 elections will take place. The General Elections Commission (KPU) has announced the parties that qualified to contest in the five-year national agenda.

One of them is the Gerindra Party. A number of preparations have been made, including the inauguration of the party’s election campaign committee (Bappilu) in Slipi, West Jakarta, last Saturday (7/1).

The progress of Gerindra Party in the nation’s political arena cannot be underestimated. Established in 2008, it quickly rose to the second position, just below PDI-P.

The founding of Gerindra is inseparable from the figure of Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Prabowo Subianto Djojohadikusumo and his concern for the people. Gerindra is his vehicle to lift people from the shackle of poverty due to the “games” of people who care only about their self-interest, not the people’s welfare.

It was this concern that motivated Prabowo Subianto, his younger brother Hashim Djojohadikusumo and a number of politicians to convene and discuss the party’s articles of association. At that time, the establishment of this party was considered urgent because it would participate in the 2009 elections. Finally, on February 6, 2008, the party whose logo is a Garuda was officially founded with the vision and mission of achieving prosperity and independence for the Indonesian people in all aspects of life.

Gerindra is managed by seasoned politicians with strong credentials and longstanding experience in the country’s political scene. For the 2020-2025 term, the party is led by Prabowo Subianto as its chairman, assisted by Sufmi Dasco Ahmad as the central executive board head, Ahmad Muzani as the secretary general and Thomas Mulyatni Djiwandono as the treasurer.

Prabowo Subianto also serves as chairman of the Board of Patrons. The Advisory Board is chaired by Haryadi Darmawan while the Expert Council is headed by Burhanuddin Abdullah.

Despite a relatively young party, Gerindra has succeeded in proving that the party has managed to capture the hearts and minds of the people, who entrusted the party with the votes and aspirations. (un)
