“Just look at our coffee boutique, we deliberately made it to look like Sasando; this becomes the iconic label to directly introduced NTT coffee and music to the market,” explained Yovin, who is also the owner of the original NTT Bangflo coffee boutique.
In the same vein, Ganzer Lana, a graduate of ethnomusicology from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta, said palm leaf has an important role as a good resonant sound reflector. If the palm leaves on Sasando are wider, the resonance will be better.

According to him, the original musical instrument from Rote, NTT was originally called Sasandu which has been played since the fifth century. Sasandu itself comes from the language of the Roti tribe, namely Sari (plucked) and Sandu (vibration). Later it was known as Sasando in the Timorese dialect.
