Jakarta, IO – The beautiful sound of Sasando charmed Lippo Mall Puri visitors in West Jakarta, Saturday (21/5) afternoon. The nimble hands of Ganzer Lana, a Sasando musician from NTT, playing the unique traditional instrument transfixed the appreciative crowd.
That day, the youth community of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) came together to introduce NTT traditional culture to the residents of Jakarta. Apart from Sasando, there were paintings and coffee from the region.
“Coffee and Sasando are like one. One of the ingredients for making Sasando is palm leaves which are also used as palm sugar for coffee,” Handrianus Yovin Karwayu, a coffee afficionado from NTT told Observerid.com.
He explained that the richness of NTT culture which include the music and coffee inspired them to introduce it to the younger generation so they can be appreciated and preserved.
