IO – Great Indonesia Movement (Gerakan Indonesia Raya – “Gerindra”) Party General Secretary Ahmad Muzani, during the Holy month of Ramadhan, visited the offices of Gerindra Central Java Regional Leadership Council (Dewan Pimpinan Daerah – “DPD”) in Semarang, Sunday 25 April 2021. The event was also attended by noted ulema Kiai Duri Ashari. Before visiting the DPD office, Muzani visited the As Shodiqiyyah pesantren (Islamic boarding school) headed by K.H Shodiq Hamzah as well as show his respect at the grave of local spiritualist Mbah Sholeh Darat. Gerindra Party Vice General Chairman Sugiono and Chairman of Gerindra Party Central Leadership Council (Dewan Pimpinan Pusat “DPP”) accompanied him on these visits.
In his address, Muzani delivered a message from Gerindra General Chairman Prabowo Subianto to his Central Java cadres: “Kiais, elder religious scholars, are exemplars for the people. Therefore, Gerindra cadres must never distance themselves from kiais, as they represent the people, that is the request of
Mr. Prabowo,” he said in a written statement made on Tuesday (27/4/2021)
Muzani went on to explain that kiais are an inseparable part of the people’s circle of life: they are present at events such as weddings, naming of a newborn child, or the opening of a new business. “Kiais guide the people. Therefore, if you want to get close to the people, you must get close with the kiais. When you manage a political party, you must never be distanced from the people. Therefore, Gerindra Party will continue to orient itself to the interests of the people. The good and the welfare of the people are things that we will achieve as the political goals of Gerindra Party,” he said. “I repeat: Gerindra cadres in Central Java must never be distance from the ulema. The people and the ulema shall always unite in the struggle to live their daily lives within the country as a nation.”
Meanwhile, Kiai Ashari reminds Gerindra cadres to always follow the instructions of Allah SWT as taught to them by the ulema. “The commitment as shown by fasting in Ramadhan should be the spirit that fuels the struggles of the Party,” he said. (Dessy)
