Jakarta, IO – The Indonesian contingent has once again made the nation proud by winning three medals from the paralympic sport boccia on the third day of the Paris Paralympics 2024.
Gischa Zayana who competed in the women’s BC2 single and Muhammad Syafa who competed in the men’s BC1 single each won bronze medal. Meanwhile, Muhammad Bintang Satria Herlangga, who competed in the men’s BC2 single bagged silver medal.
These are historic achievements for Indonesia as this is the first time the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) participated in boccia.
“The achievements of our athletes are an inspiration to continue to maintain the fighting spirit to make Indonesia proud in the international arena,” President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said in a post on social media platform X, Monday (2/9).

Team Indonesia still have the opportunity to win more medals in boccia in the BC1 and BC2 team event, which will be played on Tuesday (3/9).
Previously, Saptoyogo Purnomo, who competed in the 100m T37 para-athletics sport, also earned silver medal. As of Monday (2/9), Indonesia is currently ranked 47th in medal standings. (bp)
