Situ Cipanten
Exotic Situ Cipanten turns turbid in the summer.

To better enjoy the view of Panyaweuyan Terrace, a 20 x 15 meter viewing deck has been placed about 300 meters up from the site’s entry gate. The deck allows visitors to enjoy a 360o view of Panyaweuyan. On clear, fogless days, you can see Mount Ciremai in the background. Most people won’t lose the chance to snap photos here for souvenirs.

The best times to enjoy Panyaweuyan’s view is in the morning, where you can see clouds form and give way to the sunrise, and in the evening, where you can see the mountain gradually get shrouded by the night’s veils. Entry tickets to the Panyaweuyan Terrace site are quite affordable: you need only spend IDR 5,000.00 per person to enjoy the walk and the view deck. However, please remember that most of the Terrace is an active plantation area belonging to the local people. Therefore, keep on the tourist path and stay away from planter path. It is reachable by car or motorbike, using the mountain path right through the local village, a mere 45 minutes’ journey from Majalengka town center.

Situ Cipanten

Located in Gunung Kuning Village, Sub-District of Sindang, Situ Cipanten is a man-made lake located in the Regency of Majalengka, officially open to visitors in 1973. “It is both man-made and natural. Originally, it is part of the local people’s rice fields that got constantly irrigated by water from the springs up in Mount Ciremai. Year after year after year the water continued to accumulate, finally forming this lake that you see here,” our guide Fizar said.

Alluring Situ Cipanten with its deep blue waters.

Even if created unintentionally, Situ Cipanten has a unique aquatic magic all of its own. In certain conditions, its water debit changes alongside its color, making it more turbid in the summer. It is one hectare in size, with tightly grown vegetation surrounding its 10 meter depth. Here, visitors can swim, row ordinary wooden boats or cute plastic duck boats, and of course, take lots and lots of pictures.
