Jakarta, IO – The government imposed new excise tax on a number of products, including plastic and packaged sweetened beverages in a bid to increase state revenue, as per Presidential Regulation (Perpres) 130/2022 signed on November 30, reported Detik, Saturday (17/12).
The government aims to increase excise revenue from plastic to Rp 980 billion and sugary drinks to Rp3.08 trillion in 2023.
Meanwhile, excise target for tobacco products is Rp232.58 trillion, ethyl alcohol Rp136.9 billion, and beverages containing ethyl alcohol Rp8.6 trillion.
