The prosecution charged him with Article 114.2 of Law 35/2009 on narcotics in conjunction with Article 55.1.1 of the Penal Code.

Kasranto was proven to have acted as an intermediary in buying and selling, exchanging, or handing over five kilograms of narcotics.

The case began when Bukittinggi Police sought to destroy 40 kilograms of methamphetamine.  However, Teddy, then serving as West Sumatra Regional Police Chief, allegedly ordered Dody to swap 5 kilograms of the drug with tawas (a cleaning agent).

The ploy was finally uncovered after a series of narcotics cases by the Central Jakarta Police and Metro Jaya Regional Police. A total of 1.7 kilograms of methamphetamine had been distributed, while the remaining 3.3 kilograms were confiscated. (at)
