The case began when Bukittinggi Police sought to destroy 40 kilograms of methamphetamine.  However, Teddy, then serving as West Sumatra Regional Police Chief, allegedly ordered Dody to swap 5 kilograms of the drug with tawas (a cleaning agent).

The ploy was finally uncovered after a series of narcotics cases by the Central Jakarta Police and Metro Jaya Regional Police. A total of 1.7 kilograms of methamphetamine had been distributed, while the remaining 3.3 kilograms were confiscated. (at)
