Furthermore, reflux ponds must be constructed for a distillation process that produces 99.6-99.8 percent ethanol to be categorized as full-grade ethanol. Only then can it be suitable for fuel, according to Pertamina standards. As an off-taker, Pertamina must receive protection for its business and investment feasibility in cassava bioethanol and get a tax deduction as a state-owned business that participates in reducing carbon emissions (net zero emissions) in its energy business portfolio.

One of the topics discussed in the G20 Presidency is energy transition. To reduce carbon emissions and achieve a 23-percent energy mix, Indonesia should put an ecosystem of electric vehicles, electric stoves, gas grids, coal dimethyl ether, solar power, wind power, hydropower, geothermal, palm oil bioenergy and cassava bioethanol as a national strategic priority.
