The Government has positively responded to the hope of 80 million travelers whose livelihoods depend on the tourism and creative economy sectors. The tourism ecosystem is tired of the devastating pandemic which has all but collapsed the economy. It is time to conquer the pandemic and the tourism sector is coming to the rescue.

To welcome the holiday, the Government and the tourism sectors must prepare their regions and tourism destinations by enriching attractions, and increasing facilities, access, and amenities for tourists. The pilgrimage routes stretch from Sumatra, Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara encompass the five Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP): Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Borobudur in Central Java, Mandalika in West Nusa Tenggara, Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara, and Likupang in North Sulawesi. All tourist destinations are worthy of promotion to both domestic and foreign tourists. The Eid pilgrimage is an attractive moment for foreign tourists who would never witness such an event in their home country.

Should the yearly Eid pilgrimage reach the global tourist attention and receive a steady and active promotion, then Bank Indonesia’s prediction of IDR 8,000 trillion of circulated currency during the Eid pilgrimage is possible and prosperous. Indonesia would become a prominent world tourist destination with high seasons throughout the year and augment the community’s welfare.

Happy holiday and may we find peace within ourselves. (Taufan Rahmadi)
