Solo, IO – Dream Theater’s Top of The World Tour was held in A and B Parking Area of Manahan Stadium, Solo, last Wednesday (10/08/2022). The concert is a hopeful sign that Indonesia’s international music concert scene is reviving, especially since Indonesia is the only Southeast Asian country Dream Theater visited to promote their 15th album, A View from the Top of the World.
In the album, the American band’s John Petrucci (guitar), John Myung (bass), James LaBrie (vocals), Jordan Rudess (keyboard), and Mike Mangini (drums) show how they have developed musically, while still maintaining their instrumental techniques. The mid-pandemic album has seven songs, and it has won a Grammy for the “Best Metal Performance” category for the single “Alien” in 2022.
As the promotor, Rajawali Indonesia has spared no effort to ensure that the concert is organized according to international standards. Rajawali Indonesia Founder Anas Syahrul Alimi declared that by running music tourism, the company seeks to contribute to the establishment and maintenance of Solo as a cultural tourism destination, specifically in terms of a site for international-level music concerts.
For the upcoming Dream Theater concert, the promotor is cooperating with local Solonese micro, small and medium-sized businesses, in order to promote the City’s local wisdom potentials. “Music tourism strongly affects cities outside of Jakarta. They should be given the same opportunity to shine in their own right! By holding this international-level concert, Solo has shown significant economic impact: its hotels are fully booked for the duration, and its culinary delights will definitely be something concertgoers enjoy after the music. It’ll be a reason for people to come back and visit this delightful city again later,” Anas said.

For the current Dream Theater concert, Rajawali Indonesia also collaborated with their musical colleagues from Rock in Solo, the City’s own rock music festival. Outside the concert arena, they will open “Rock in Solo Village” booths that contains various activities – DJ set, performing bands, culinary offerings, and other merchandise. Enthusiastic Dream Theater fans across Indonesia have bought thousands of regular tickets for the show. Amazing! (nhn)
