DKPP Sacks KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy’ari


Jakarta, IO – Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) chairman Hasyim Asy’ari was removed from his position by the Election Organization Ethics Council (DKPP), Wednesday (3/7).

He was proven to have committed sexual harassment against a woman identified as CAT who was a member of the Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) in The Hague, Netherlands. The decision was issued by DKPP chairman Heddy Lukito, per CNN Indonesia, Thu (4/7).

According to law, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo was required to implement this decision no later than seven days after this decision was read. DKPP also asked the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) to supervise the implementation of this decision.

DKPP found that Hasyim forced CAT to have a sexual intercourse on October 3, 2023 at his hotel room. At that time, Hasyim was in The Hague for election-related agenda. (un)
