IO, Banten – Gerindra Party has reason to be proud that their party has won in Banten and as a result, have encouraged their elected legislative members to understand the science of governance. The aim of this is so that they serve the public interest in the best way possible.

As a result of the 2019 elections, the Gerindra Party are able to place their members as Speaker in the Banten Province, Serang City, Pandeglang Regency and Lebak Regional House of Representatives (DPRD). Also, to the Council Deputy Chairman seats in Tangerang Regency, Tangerang City, South Tangerang, and Serang Regency.

This was announced by Gerindra Regional Representative Council Chairman Desmond J. Mahesa when opening their “capacity building” school in Rumah Aspirasi Gerinda, Ciwaru, Serang City, Monday (5/8/2019). “For that, the most important thing is what we have to give to the community as the party’s responsibility,” he said.

With the holding the “capacity building” training, said Desmond, it is hoped that members delegated to the council can improve their capabilities and explore problems in their respective constituencies. “Every member must understand the council’s duties so going forward they are competent, ready, and able to give added value to the public, specifically in budgeting, legislation, and supervision,” said the DPR member, who was re-elected in Banten I in the 2019 elections.

Through this “capacity building”, it is hoped that party members recognize their weaknesses and explore their potentials, which results in the representatives’ being able to have a positive effect on the public. “For instance, the state budget is divided and given to every government agency. Is it in line with the priorities of the Banten people? Where are the funds for education, religious matters, social community, infrastructure, and wages? Council members must understand this,” asserted Desmond. “If they do not understand the fundamentals of governance, do not understand the government’s duties, well, feel sorry for them,” he said.

As the winning party in Banten, the Gerindra must be able to supervise well and create regulations which benefit the public. “As winners, we are translating many of the publics’ hopes put on the Gerindra Party because this party is the channeler of the people’s aspirations,” he concluded. (dsy)
